The Machine Shop Module is available for repairing, modifying and de novo design and construction of mechanical components and instruments for Core laboratories. provides support and innovation for experimental needs such as optical and functional magnetic resonance imaging, light and electron microscopy, animal behavioral monitoring and control, stereotactic and surgical approaches, and many more.
The machine shop is available for small, one-off jobs, such as quickly machining a component needed for an experiment or animal surgery, as well as more extensive projects that require long-term planning and fabrication. The machine shop can lay out projects with computer-aided design (SolidWorks CAD software) and do automated construction with computer numerical control mills and lathes. The shop also has a 3D printer for full-scale prototyping. The Machine Shop Module will work closely in design and implementation with the Neuroengineering and Imaging modules. This integrated approach of the Neuroengineering and Machine Shop Module has proven benefitial for many Core laboratories.

- Clausing/Metosa AutoLathe.
- Haas HPCL CNC/Manual tool room lathe.
- Alaris 30 3D printer. Printing system can be used with STL or SLC file formats using a 3D cad program.
